Part 2 of the award season took place over the weekend, the SAG awards. The fashion didn’t exactly live up to the Golden Globes but there were some improvements and some lust-worthy dresses.
I know Lupita Nyong’o wowed everyone at the GG’s in that red caped dress but for me, this Gucci dress is far better! I love the colour, such a beautiful turquoise and it looks fabulous with her skintone. The beaded neckline is stunning and she made the right decision keeping her jewellery to a minimum. Really love this look!
Amy Adams always looks amazing, she gets the most beautiful dresses for the red carpet. I love this blue on her, looks spectacular with her red hair. I prefer Amy in princess frocks, like the Marchesa she wore to the Oscars last year, but this Antonio Berardi is gorgeous on her. The colour is fab and it fits her like a glove. Find the neck cut a little strange, too unusual for me. I think if the neckline were a bit more subtle, less deliberately odd then I’d really love it!
Jennifer Lawrence definitely redeemed herself for that slight mishap at the GG’s in this stunning Dior. I’m so in love with this look, it fits her so perfectly and the way it sparkled on camera was just out of this world. Pictures just don’t capture glitter the way it appears in person. The colour is beautiful, and overall this is one of the most understated dresses on the carpet this season, and yet it manages to be one of my favourites. J-Law, I adore you! P.S. please let your hair grow out again, I miss your long blonde locks.
Kaley Cuoco also redeemed herself from her, let’s face it, fashion disaster at the GG’s. This Vera Wang dress is just perfect, I love the shape and colour not to mention she nailed the fit on this one. It totally flatters her figure and the colour really suits her. Maybe the colour is a little boring for the SAG Awards, but it’s a lovely shade and suits her so that argument is invalid for me.
Elisabeth Röhm looked stunning in this Marchesa dress. I love it, so simple but the lace detail is amazing. I love Marchesa, the dresses are always fabulous. The fit on this is perfect and stays in the classy category because of it’s high neckline and long sleeves. Very covered up but so effortlessly stunning.
A similar style to the above was this stunning dress worn by Nancy O’Dell. Unfortunately, I still don’t know who the designer is but I’m trying my best to find out. I love the sparkle off this dress, for me it just pips the previous dress to the post. A popular look for this awards season it would appear.
Now, the worst looks. I really don’t enjoy this part but the less I say about the really horrible looks the better. I’ll be brief:
Sandra Bullock got it wrong, again, in this green Lanvin. Now, it’s not the worst but I don’t get this look. The fit isn’t great, it does nothing for her fabulous figure. The cut is really odd, the neckline is too low it sits on her in the wrong place and the slit is so unnecessary and oddly placed. The material looks too metallic, almost like a sweet wrapper, but the colour is great with her skintone. I hate to criticise Sandy because I love her, but she needs to step it up and be her usual fashionable self, I get the impression she’s trying to be too fashion forward and quirky.
Next up is Cate Blanchett in this pink Givenchy. I don’t actually know where to start with this. I hated her look at the GG’s, too much lace (not even nice lace) and now she’s wearing what looks to be a maternity dress. That highly misshapen, baggy middle section is not flattering and quite frankly, just looks odd. I love the colour, such a rarity to see a nice baby pink dress, and the glittered hem is beautiful I just wish that the dress was more fitted or at least designed to be more flattering on the midsection – it creates the illusion of weigt where there is none.
Sorry but this has to be the worst of the whole night. Mayim Bialik looks lovely but this custom Rachel Livingston is just ruining her efforts. I don’t understand why anyone would ruin that beautiful lace bodice with that horrendous pink satin. It looks out of place. Then, that odd hemline, it dips in he wrong places and looks unfinished. This whole look just doesn’t mesh well for me.
Looking forward to the Grammy’s tomorrow night. Let’s hope the singers bring their A Game.
