So, I promised a review of this foundation weeks ago and I’m only getting around to it now! Been super busy organising trips away and working hard – I’ve finally signed my permanent contract (Yay!)
You all know, or at least you should, that I’m a foundation fanatic. I have sensitive, oily skin and I do struggle to find foundations that keep my skin looking flawless (covering any breakouts and redness) as well as protecting my skin from irritation. I have found some brilliant solutions: Maybelline’s Dream Satin Liquid, Dermablend Corrective and of course these are made even more flawless by using No7 Flawless Finish Sponges. But, I’m always on the lookout for new, innovative foundations!
I am extremely pale so I usually go for light ivory in all foundations – if that colour is on the list! I am a firm believer in foundation matching the skin on the neck, it doesn’t have to look dark to be effective, in fact foundation should blend effortlessly into the skin and look like you’re wearing none at all – the goal is for flawless skin with no redness or blotchiness so do be honest and go for a true match (dab and blend on the wrist when testing).
I found this foundation really smooth and easy to blend, I’ve applied using both the sponges and fingers and both look flawless. I love how this foundation, as promised, picks up on light and gives a natural and subtle glow to the skin. This is really important for those who do have very pale skin, and choose the correct tone, as it can look like we’re wearing no foundation and, unfortunately this means we can look a little sickly. Not with this foundation!
Above I’m wearing the foundation, applied with sponges, in natural light (in a car, the most dreaded of places to take a selfie!!) As you can see, although it looks completely natural, there is no blotchiness/redness around the skin and I don’t look like I’m wearing nothing at all!
I won’t be giving up on my favourite foundations but I’ll have a sample of each in the make up bag at all times, they all have great individual benefits and advantages e.g. if you have a rash or really stubborn redness use Dermablend. If I want a little more of a finished look I’ll use Maybelline over this Max Factor foundation. Try not to stick with just one product, play around!
