Just a quick blog post today on how to wash all those make-up brushes in your collection!
We have long heard how important it is to wash your brushes regularly to keep them germ-free and make sure they’re doing the best job they can with your make-up application but I’ve been lazy and never really got on board with this until I started buying decent, expensive brushes.
I love Real Techniques, not very expensive but good quality and looking after them will really keep them in amazing condition for years! I also have an Armani Foundation brush that definitely needs looking after. It cost too much not to!
So, washing your brushes (everything from foundation, powder to eyeshadow brushes) is really easy and not as costly as it sounds. I use a baby shampoo, Johnson’s & Johnson’s, cheap and easy to get your hands on. Don’t bother with specific make-up cleaning toners and lotions – they’re just expensive and do the exact same as shampoo!
I picked up the above set of exfoliating gloves in Dealz for just €1.49 and these work amazingly to get all the stubborn make-up out of your brushes.
There’s really not a whole lot that goes into washing brushes, I fill the sink halfway with lukewarm water and add a few drops of the shampoo then massage each brush wearing the gloves – you’ll see the colour running out and onto the gloves as you go so you’ll know it’s working. Do this until you can’t see any more product then rinse quickly under cold water and leave to dry.
Et voila! Quick, cheap and easy guide to cleaning all your make-up brushes!
