I recently picked up this gorgeous highlighter from my new favourite bargain beauty brand Makeup Revolution after I started to fall in love with highlighting. I’m quite pale so highlighters with pink/purple tones show better on my skin than ones with a more peach/tan finish, I was delighted to find that Makeup Revolution had one of their Vivid Baked Highlighters in Pink Lights a gorgeous pink toned shimmer!
So as you all know, I love a good contour! But lately I’ve fallen in love with just adding some bronzer to the apples of my cheeks and a good sweep of highlighter across my cheekbones, I think it gives that extra definition and warmth that people turn to contour for without the drama! I use this trick day or night if I don’t want to look overdone or I’m too lazy to spend ages blending!
I love the finish of this highlighter, the pinkish tones put a lot of people off, many seem to be under the impression that a highlighter should look like an illuminator and be very pale white in colour but it all depends on your skin tone. I recommend testing on your wrist before buying, your skin is closest to your eye skintone here (it’s a great place to test eyeshadow too!)
I always apply using a fan brush for a really natural and blended finish with zero effort! Just sweep, in a fanning motion, across the cheekbones from just below the centre of your eye up and around your temple! The above is an untouched and unfiltered picture (I never touch up my pictures, what’s the point of honest opinion blogging if I’m editing the result?) And you can see how shimmery but natural it is when applied gently! Of course you can add more and more for extra drama but I like a subtle finish on my makeup, I hate things being overdone!
