Today I want to update you all on why I’ve been M.I.A for a long time! I was recently in Las Vegas for 10 days!
Myself and the boyf headed over for Conor McGregor’s fight against Chad Mendes (when we bought and booked it was Aldo but he pulled out & thankfully another opponent stepped in). Because of my unbelievable fear of flying, and the fact I’d never been to the US we decided to go for 10 whole days in the middle of July – everyone told us we were crazy.
Unfortunately we couldn’t get a direct flight out of Dublin (typical) so we had 1 stop in London. Aer Lingus flew us there and as always they were amazing. Then we jumped on a huge Virgin Atlantic flight to Vegas which was one of the best experiences of my life, I never thought I’d be so comfortable and happy on a plane! The plane itself is so comfortable, bigger seats, more leg space, personal TVs loaded with films and tv shows. The staff were incredible, constant food on offer (delicious menu with starters, mains and desserts as well as snacks like pizza and wraps) and of course it’s all free, including the alcohol 😜
It is a long aul flight so I’d recommend wearing comfies and bringing travel sized wipes, moisturiser and foundation to reapply and revive your skin – it’s super drying!
When we landed I was amazed! The airport is so close to the strip, you can see all the hotels as you land! 5 mins in a taxi to the Luxor, which was pretty incredible. It’s at the top of the strip so very close to the MGM and New York New York but a bit farther away from the Bellagio and Caeser’s Palace. I’d definitely recommend staying here, when we go back we’ll stay there or NYNY for definite. Location wise they’re just perfect if you’re looking to stay just that small bit outside the hectic centre but on the lively side!
There’s just too many pictures to share here but you need to visit ALL of the hotels, it’s not that far of a walk to get around, at least the centre anyway, and trams and walkways between the hotels will help you on your journey (they’re completely free!) The monorail will help you get further down the strip, it starts at the back of the MGM and doesn’t cost too much to get a 24hr or even 2 day pass.
Most hotels have some amazing attraction you’ll need to see. The Luxor obviously has the Sphinx and is itself a huge pyramid, pretty amazing. Mandalay Bay has a Shark reef which is pretty exciting, there can be big enough queues so try to go in the early evening rather than daytime when families will be there. It cost $19 and you can wander around inside for as long as you like, through arched aquariums while the sharks swim above your head. It’s a definite must-do!
For all us Irish, there are 2 pretty awesome pubs: Rí Rá (best Irish breakkie, Caesar Salad & Irish curry around) at the Mandalay Shoppes and Nine Fine Irishmen in NYNY. Stop by the Aria and see the Cirque du Soleil Zarkana show, it’s by far the best! Also visit the Minus 5 ice bar at the Mandalay Shoppes (or in Monte Carlo) for a unique experience in a complete ice bar (even the glasses are ice!) So much fun!
The Bellagio is spectacular in terms of extravagance, everything is exquisitely done including the indoor garden which changes every season! The glass ceiling is unbelievable in person! And of course, the fountains are something you cannot leave Vegas without taking in at least once. Go around 11pm if possible, there’s more space around the fountain and you’ll get a spectacular night show. Truly breathtaking!
The Cosmopolitan boasts a seriously beautiful crystal ceiling which must be seen to be believed! The Venetian has a gorgeous canal that flows through the shops, with the painted ceilings it actually feels like you’re walking through Venice with gondolas literally sailing by. The Mirage has Siegfried and Roy’s secret garden which has to be on your list! It’s $20 but again you can stay as long as you like and spend time with the dolphins, lions, tigers and leopards that wander around so close you could nearly touch them. The keepers interact with the animals daily and hang around to answer any questions. It’s a truly exceptional place, different to any zoo I’ve ever been to. You can also catch a volcanic eruption in the lake outside the hotel nightly from 8pm which is pretty beautiful.
I obviously packed a tonne of clothes for the trip, somehow I managed to keep the weight at 15kg! These are my favourites;
UFC 189 outfit supporting our boy The NOTORIOUS Conor McGregor! I picked up this lace skirt in H&M for €19.99.
I love this dress, I bought it a good while ago but never had the chance to wear it. Somehow it seemed perfect for Vegas! I got this in Catch boutique for €30 and paired it with a bodychain from River Island.
You might recognize this one, Missguided x Nicole from a year or two ago – still a perfect holiday dress! Paired with a bodychain from Penneys.
This is from Boohoo, so good I had to snap up a hot pink version last week on sale now for only €16. Lace is actually my favourite thing ever right now!
Another little Boohoo find for only €16, perfect for running around during the day in style – bright neon colour is perfect for bringing out the tan! And of course I located 3 Christian Louboutin stores – I’ll find them wherever I go 😍
I still have so much else to say and explain but this post is way too long already! Please post questions or queries in the comments and I’ll answer as best I can! Hope these tips come in handy for your trips to Vegas!
