Hello Readers,
I was so lucky to get this beautiful giftset from my sister at Christmas and I’ve been using the collection over the last few months so it’s time to fill you all in!
Ted Baker giftsets are always stunning and a staple in the Boots Christmas gift selection every year, this particular set is one of the best I’ve seen – it’s so full of goodies!
It includes all of the following: a full-sized mascara, 3 lipsticks, an eyebrow pencil with spoolie, eyeshadow trio palette, bronzer and highlighter palette, eyelash curler, 2 nail polishes, an eyeshadow brush and fan brush. Amazing, right?
I’ve gotten a few Ted Baker giftsets over the years (and gifted them to people) and the quality is always great so I was delighted to get such a gorgeous set and couldn’t wait to get using it! I love that this set also included handy tools like the eyelash curler and brushes, absolute necessities for any collection!
It goes without saying, the nail polishes are gorgeous, as always. The colours are rich and the coverage is beautiful. I have a few Ted Baker polishes in my collection and love them all, they’re quite strong too so you won’t suffer many chips!
The lipsticks are also beautiful and highly pigmented, the red shade is packed with shimmering glittery flakes so it has a gorgeous glowing finish. The other two aren’t shimmery, the have a lovely creamy texture but look more matte on the lips, although they’re not drying in the slightest, and this is something I would suffer from so I’m always delighted when lipsticks have a good bit of moisture. I’m wearing these two in the below pictures, I unfortunately don’t have a picture of the red on the lips but it is stunning as you can see in the swatch above.
The eyeshadow trio is 3 fabulous shimmering shades, a pink, a white and a bronze that are perfect for spotlights, inner corners and eye-light. For very pale, subtle shades they’re actually very pigmented, a little dab goes a long way and they also look stunning patted over other shadows for some extra pop and glow! I’ve layered them over other shadows in the below pictures but you can see just how much they stand out. The eyeshadow brush is so fluffy and the perfect size for buffing and blending shadows onto the lid. It’s such a tiny little palette it’s absolutely perfect for throwing into the handbag or travel bag for holidays as well (always a bonus in my books!)
The bronzer/highlighter palette is just so gorgeous! The little bow details on all the products are adorable and this is another perfectly sized travel palette for keeping on the go! The bronzer is quite shimmery but doesn’t look out of place on the skin, I’ve used it almost like a contour in the below picture and it works beautifully; it gives that definition without being too dramatic so it’s a daytime appropriate look too, especially when applied with the fan brush from the set, it buffs and blends it perfectly while dispersing just enough product over the skin. The highlighter is amazing, too. It’s not overly pigmented or glittery but gives the most natural and subtle glow when you only use a dab, again very daytime appropriate but builds easily for a nighttime finish!
The mascara is good, not the best I’ve used and certainly not my go-to. I need a mascara that adds length and volume, this mascara is a gorgeous black shade but it doesn’t really add any volume or curl to the lash so it won’t give you that doe-eyed look. I have found that using this before applying a volumnising mascara works really well, the brush on this mascara is thin and has a rubbery tip rather than fibre bristles so it’s really good for separating the lashes to avoid clumping so it’s a fab base.
Overall, I absolutely love this set, the eyebrow pencil was a tad too light for me, it’s a quite light tan shade and my hair is so dark it doesn’t work that well but it’s handy to have and actually makes a nice eyeliner for a soft smokey look. I love that all the products are perfectly sized and multi-functional, being able to minimize the amount of makeup I bring in my handbag/suitcase is very important to me so products that take up less space/weight and serve multiple uses are huge yays in my eyes!
Lauren,
