Hello Readers,
Today I wanted to share with you all my opinions on the Aldi Lacura Blender Sponges that have been recommended by almost every beauty blogger/MUA in the country over the last couple of weeks! As you’ll know from my recent review of the SOSU by Suzanne Jackson Pro Blender, I’ve fallen in love with the finish sponges give to foundation and when I saw everyone and their mother talking about how great these bargain sponges were I knew I had to get my hands on them.
I popped in to Aldi one evening after work and was amazed to find loads still in stock (usually things like this fly off the shelves, especially when recommended on social media) so of course I had to buy all 3 colours because…. well, why not? They’re only €1.99 each and for that price you may as well buy in bulk!
I was immediately impressed with these sponges, they’re soft and bouncy and expand so much when damp – I just spritz mine with a priming or setting spray. The coverage is brilliant and the tapered tip is actually the best I’ve found for getting into the corners with concealer and around the nose. In the above picture I’m wearing L.A. Girl Pro Coverage HD Foundation and it sits so beautifully when applied with a sponge.
In the above picture I’ve applied Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation using the sponge and it packs it into the skin flawlessly. There’s so little effort needed with these sponges, they do all of the work for you and they’re perfectly sized too so it doesn’t even take long. The quality of these sponges is so far beyond what you’d expect for €1.99, I rarely judge products based on price (some of my all-time favourites are cheaper brands) but I don’t think anyone would have imagined that an Aldi brand would be superior to most sponges on the market!
In the above I’m wearing YSL Fusion Ink Foundation, I wanted to show you all how the brand doesn’t matter, the application is always flawless and so beautifully pressed into the skin with these sponges. These 3 foundations are all quite different in consistency and texture, from really watery to thicker, creamier mixes, these all went on easily and evenly using these sponges.
I’d absolutely recommend these sponges and I’m actually so glad I picked up 3! All 3 cost just slightly more than my recent favourite, the SOSU by Suzanne Jackson Pro Blender so there’s no going wrong with this bargain.
Lauren,
